Elite Gymnastics Academy is Moving to New Facility!

November 17, 2011

Dear Elite Gymnastics Academy Families:

We have collected surveys and customer feedback for quite some time regarding how EGA can improve, and we took your comments under careful consideration. Given our fast rate of growth along with our need for more space, we realized that the time is right and the need is now for our gym to expand to accommodate our needs. To that end, we are extremely happy to announce we have purchased a new facility that is well-suited for our gym. Our anticipated move date is April 1st, 2012.
Our newly acquired facility is located on Highway 13, just 3 miles west from our current location,
It has plenty of room for EGA’s rapid rate of growth as we are allocating 26,000 square feet for EGA use; which is twice the space EGA occupies right now. A few of our new facility’s features will include:
• Enormous lobby area with full glassed view of the gym for parents
• Separate toddler training area
• In-ground trampolines
• In-ground foam pits
• Tons of new equipment
• Party room
• Separate rooms for dance and Zumba classes
• Larger pro-shop area
• And many more exciting amenities
When complete, this will make Elite Gymnastics Academy one of the largest and most progressive gymnastics training centers in the state!
Thank you for your continued support as we make this big move! Rest assured, we will keep you informed of moving dates and plans as we get closer to them. We are extremely excited for this new venture and look forward to a smooth and seamless transition as we make this move.

Sincerely,

Elite Gymnastics Academy Staff

NEW!! Punch Cards!

If your summer schedule is too busy to commit to our 10 week summer session, we have the perfect solution for you; Punch Cards! This flexible program was designed with the busy family in mind. Your gymnast has worked so hard over the past several months to gain important skills and strength. These skill will be lost if they don't have the opportunity to practice them.

Our Punch Cards allow your gymnast to come to any class during the week that they are registered for. Simply call the gym office to make their reservation. The class is based on availability. No walk-ins will be allowed... we want to make sure we maintain our high standards of small class sizes. Purchase the the number of punches you feel your gymnast will use over the summer. Any unused punches will be forfeited at the end of the summer session. Punch Cards cannot be transferred.

We truly care about your gymnast and hope this new program will aide in keeping them flexible & strong while allowing them the freedom to come when it fits into your busy summer schedule.

Happy Summer... see you at the gym :)

Trampolines, flipping and jumping... Oh my!

How many of us or our neighbors have a trampoline adorning our backyards? While these are wonderful "toys" for our children, I bet most of us worry about the safety of these toys too.

Children will try anything on trampolines, they have no fear. Doing a flip, back bounce or other fun stunts can not only be fun, but harmful if done the wrong way.

Elite Gymanastics Academy is proud to be one of the few gymnastics training centers to offer trampoline and tumbling classes. Trampoline and tumbling is the hottest new sport and recently become part of the Olypmic Games in 2000. These unique classes will teach the proper and safe methods of flips and other stunts on a trampoline. Not only will children have a great time but they will also benefit in other ways too. It has been proven that jumping on a trampoline decreases stress and anxiety, prevents arthritis, helps with health conditions such as asthma, fatigue, headaches, sinus problems and ADHD. Who knew!

Visit our website at: www.elite-gymnastics.com today for our Summer Session schedule. These popular classes will fill fast so register early.

Keep them fit, keep them happy, keep them SAFE! See you at the gym!

And the answer is...

A HABIT. Like the poem states, a habit can be a good habit or a bad habit. Either way, it takes time to build a habit. Gymnastics focuses on creating good habits that will last a lifetime; dedication, focus, team-work, setting goals, and proper physical activity.

Did you know... it takes 21 days to build a habit; good or bad?

What am I?

I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.

I am completely at your command.
Half of the things you do you might as well turn over to me and I will do
them - quickly and correctly.

I am easily managed -
you must be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done and after a few lessons,
I will do it automatically.

I am the servant of great people,
and alas, of all failures as well.
Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures,
I have made failures.

I am not a machine though
I work with the precision of a machine
plus the intelligence of a person.
You may run me for profit
or run me for ruin -it makes
no difference to me.

Take me, train me, be firm with me, and
I will place the world at your feet.
Be easy with me and I will destroy you.

"A Week Without Gymnastics Makes One Weak"

As summer break for children approaches, parents are looking at their calendars and making wonderful plans for their summer break. While taking a vacation can lift your spirits and energize your soul, taking the entire summer off from a year-round sport can be detrimental to a gymnasts hard-work and training. They have worked so hard training to perfect skills, flexibility and conditioning. Even a short break from gymnastics will result in the loss of muscle, flexibility and strength which can take months to regain and unfortunately, puts them behind in their skill set when compared with their peers who came to gymnastics throughout the summer.

If your summer schedule does require a break from training at the gym, try to have your child continue basic stretching and conditioning techniques that can be done safely at home with adult supervision. Please consult with your child's coach for information regarding some safe and effective at-home techniques. While these measures will aide in keeping them as flexible and conditioned as possible, it by no means replaces the extremely valuable training provided to them at their gym.

Have a safe and happy summer and we look forward to seeing your smiling faces at the gym this summer!

Various Benefits of Gymnastics for Children

When we think about gymnastics we typically think about flips, splits and radical moves that defy gravity, however, did you know that gymnastics provides children with many physical, cognitive, phsycological and educational benefits too?   When you watch your toddler's gymnastic instructor play silly games with the children in her class, she is not only teaching them the basic and important skills of gymnastics, but more importantly, teaching other skills that they will carry with them for a lifetime.  Gymnastics is one of the first sports you can introduce to your toddler.

Here is a brief list of some of the underlying benefits of gymnastics:
  • Increased spacial awareness
  • Longer attention spans and improved problem-solving skills
  • Aids in reading readiness through increased neurological pathway development from the increased physcial activity
  • Improved listening skills as they learn how to interact with coaches
  • Increased physical activity has been shown to increase children's self-esteem
  • Full body workout will increase bone density, flexibility, balance and strength
  • Skills gained through gymnastics can be carried through to other sports including; softball, basketball, soccer, baseball, football, skiing, just to name a few
With pediatric obesity at an alarming 13%, children need to be introduced to exercise programs at a young age.  Research has found that children who have a higher rate of physical fitness have a reduced risk in developing asthma, substance abuse, high blood pressure in adolescents (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1999), prevention of certain cancers (Merrett, Theis & Ashbury, 2000) and has helped to reduce the risk of developing diabetes by 58% (Yale University School of Medicine, 2001).

Studies also show that children learn cognitive skills more effectively in an environment that includes the body as well as the mind (Barrett 1998).

Help your child develop a love for exercise at a young age and you will be preparing them with healthy habits that will help them in living a long and happy life!

Elite Gymnastics Academy is so confident you will LOVE our facility and classes that we will let you try a class for FREE.  Call us today to schedule your Trial Class; 952-882-9012.  Your child will THANK YOU!
